Journalism Department

Our students mostly go on to work in newspapers, magazines, television, and other fields requiring skills in reporting and writing.  First they are taught the techniques of journalism by our faculty in a tradition that emphasizes the public service mission of the press, the art of writing, and the history of journalism.  For more information, see: our department philosophy in the section of the site about the major; the course descriptions; and the biographies of our alumni/alumnae.

Location and Hours

The UMass Journalism Department is located in Bartlett 108 and the main office will usually be open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. (or whatever times it really is).
