Selection / Customization process
Product Clarity: Low.
Price Clarity: Good. Systems were priced (depending on processor)
Speed: Fast. No processing time needed.
Range / Power: Low. No automated customization.
Notes
No customization is offered through the web site. Well, all right, most of the system configurations offer two or more processor speeds, with different prices listed for separate Add to cart buttons corresponding to the different processors available.
The presentation of the computer systems offered could not get much simpler; but it seems that the laundry list of components is not a particularly easy way to absorb what is being offered especially if, as at Custom Computers, the order isnt the most logical. No explanation was given on any of the components.
Problems
- Even this simple site required horizontal scrolling when in a narrower window for at least one page.
- Mislabeling in the titles (and links to) pages, e.g. the Custom Pentium II System page offered Pentium III processors.
- Graphics for Windows and Intel and other companies at the top of each page just got in the way.
- Mostly, of course, the fact that every system had Custom in the name but no automated customization was offered, nor were there e-mail links on these pages encouraging custom requests.
Good Features
- I liked the greeting on the systems page: All Custom Systems are assembled to your exact specifications. That means that you NEVER have to pay for for something that you do not need, but you can purchase a system that will do all that you expect, AND MORE! (All right, the AND MORE! is just stupid.) The blurb continued: If you have any questions feel free to call or e-mail me. I respond to each e-mail personally. Because of this you NEVER need to worry about explaining your situation to six different people.
