Advice on Urban Exploring in Detroit:
There's tons of shit to explore in Detroit, if you got some semblance of balls. Detroit knows how to lock up abandoned shit because that's all we do. And we know damn well how easy it is for anyplace to become a crack den squat, so we lock that shit up. You're gonna have to break into some places. Detroit style.
Check out the Ruins of Detroit web site, if it's still up. Also, check "abandoned by neglect" if you can find something there.
Amazing urban exploring to be done in Detroit! No better place in the USA. But screw this "we never break in" shit. That ain't gonna cut it in the big D.
More Andrew on Detroit:
Diego Rivera did one of his greatest murals inside the Detroit Institute of Arts. The DIA is considered one of the cultural "jewels" of Detroit. It has an awesome collection but it's worth it just to take in the mural.
Remember Detroit was once a great city. In the art deco building era it was only behind New York and Chicago for the number of buidings built.
