I suddenly have reason to go to the New Orleans jazz festival, someone I want to go with!

This is New Orleans though. An amazing city partially destroyed by government inaction on global warming and maintaining levies. And a rebuilding effort intentionally distorted to cast out the poor and black majority.

Example, by the indefatiguable Bill Quigley: http://www.blackagendareport.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&...

The festival takes place in a race track, with lots of national rather than local acts, sponsored by Shell, no mention of justice or restoring the population of the city and bettering their situation.

There are some philanthropic programs by the foundation that puts on the festival that have been expanded since Katrina, though there are still no prominent mention of Katrina:

Groups working for justice:

No immediate actions:

The politically approved

Why is there so little being done to tap what people do still care about, an issue with as much resonance as any in U.S. culture?

What the hell am I looking for? What absolution do I seek?

What do I expect any group to enable me to do in a week?

Oh well, I'll still ask someone... why not the angry black bitch:

I wanted to ask if you knew what groups were leading efforts to involve people concerned about Katrina and the continuing unbelievable aftermath (come on, the extent of the shut-out of former residents has to surprise even you), which remains a defining political event of our time, rivaling the invasion of Iraq.

For instance, action or accessing people going to New Orleans around the jazz festival at the end of April / beginning of May.

p.s. This just in: Alphonso Jackson will resign!
