Skype call from M

Delightful women on either side of me, overlapping visits in Natick from South Korea (OK, well really more Southern California) and Switzerland, and another on an online call. Good catch up and launched her web site!

Linger on

Pale Blue Eyes, Velvet Underground.

OK that song is always going to make me think of K. With the "make me mad" part role-reversed though... but, "what i had and, couldn't keep"...

Much possible business directions-- polygamy is legal in business! Put still in the possible, not the actual. Must finish book and pick some partners and do something.

Also, the person who made this viral video success gave me a ride home: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kDaiFfY78a4

Monday not quite finished with teh book blues

You may notice i'm reaching for accomplishments today.

Met with CPA Jason Cooper.

finished doing the dishes.

caught the mouse and released it off the tracks.

cooked at Kaveri's talk

Before Kaveri's amazing report and discussion: http://mlncn.com/node/1776

i cooked.

boiled potatoes-- but apparently not long enough!! Were still a bit hard until finished overcooking everything. I didn't want to but when the second Desi woman told me to add water (independently), i did. Guess it worked.

two heads garlic
Half an onion.
6 tomatoes

curry powder
Kaveri's Garam Masala from over a year ago :-)

took a long time cooking but they got soft eventually

say, did you get flowers last month?
[he typed with heart pounding]

No, that's not a ringing endorsement. And no, i don't take hints. And it wouldn't make any difference in how i act anyway, which may not say much for my romancing strategy and abilities.

Unconditional love means many important actions aren't dependent on an answer. Simple support.

Flying into Chicago

quarry right in the grid suburbs with the leafless trees

so incredibly deep!! tiny border of woods

the flat warehouses

the dozens of tracks of trains altogether

the airline warehouses or hangers

including, as we finally touched down amid turbulance, one with the letters removed, but the remains still visible: EVA AIR

snowing in Chicago

The fact that we hadn't joked about breaking up the collective for a couple years was a warning sign

collective smaller than ever

so

business partner's off the hook
but his beats livestream sure is good and soothing http://www.ustream.tv/channel/minimal-selections

lose some / win some?

Cooked for myself for the first time approximately ever

Stayed home working (fairly productively too, what a brutal week, i am sorry publisher, clients, and anyone else who wants me to finish something or who simply wants a piece of my time— it's just been a long, slow, slog for everything) while Grandpa and Mom and Nadia and her friend went to dinner at Fairway and to see the best jazz musicians on the Cape play at, uh, Willy's Gym.

Ah, that felt nice to write a multi-nested parenthetical phrased sentence that's well nigh incomprehensible. That stuff doesn't fly in a book. At least, i hope there's nothing like that in there.

Beautiful rainy day at the cape; Goodbye Bitch; How late am i on this chapter now?

THe constant rain, often a downpour, is nice— it's been a while since i've seen it. It melted all the snow overnight, but the sea-ice, that is like frosting to walk through, is something else. It was born of water and salt and doesn't seem to mind the rain much.

H doing great; K sounds good considering

Also talked to Dimitrius, he says he's still taking it easy. Was working while i was in town.

Didn't reach Eliana but it was good to get through by e-mail... when she LinkedIn me, actually, some back-and-forth.

Summer job for law student, in Africa. I have the coolest friends

sorry, not sure if it's public for me to say whom!

being an imposition on valentine's day and asking for wooing advice

would be ok if only the-missing-word-that-we-mean-when-we-misuse-irony points outweighed the stupid points.

fairly productive work day

on the plus side, JoJo (a cat) is giving me a massage (claws in!) and purred like an idling 18-wheeler the whole time. (Reminds me of K when i gave a good massage.)

Perhaps the most spectacular movement of my lifetime has achieved goal number 1

The people of Egypt have forced President Mubarak out. He put the armed forces – which maintained an amazing neutrality throughout the 18 day standoff – in charge on his way out.

Afternoon and vegan sushi dinner at the Corbins

Very nice afternoon and evening!

DjColburn: Sushi night! #foodporn http://t.co/kF8h1OC

and learned:
- three sheets to the wind -- basically telling someone they walk like a badly build windmill.
- hold a candle to -- saying someone is not worthy of even apprenticing to someone else (hold the candle while they work)
- the whole nine yards -- all 27 feet of bullets for a gun, but this one seems to be an apocryphal etymology, as that is an anyhow unlikely World War II origin and the phrase doesn't start to get used until well into the Vietnam war era.

to Boston for Drupal Dojo

I really shouldn't wear my Celtics jacket when going into Boston on game days. I'll lead people on the train to the wrong stop.

On the other hand, whenever i do, they win.

The MBTA web site is down... but the trains are on time!

The clouds graced New England with another foot of snow (though the previous foot had mostly melted).

I dug out the car and drove N to the station. I'd checked mbta.com first to see if the Worcester-Framingham line was even running and the site was down, not there at all.

But drove the Kia through the mess, dropped her off, and the train was there, right on time, by the time i got back from the post office (where i was the first to walk up the steps; fortunately the door was open; unfortunately the P.O. box was empty).
