Limitless possibilities turned out to be sledding with the dogs at 3 a.m. :-)

Darn it, i just realized my status was supposed to be "New Years' Eve plans"! I have plans for the new year:

1. Stabilize Agaric / Drupal work
2. Launch early adopter aspects of Visions Unite / PWGD
3. Get a full-time girlfriend
4. Continue to have irresponsible fun (which may conflict with 1 & 2, i hope not 3)
5. Actually make plans to accomplish these things (this is farther than I've ever gotten before!)

Rice and beans and various hot spices for breakfast-- who could ask for anything more?

hot breakfast also good because the 54° Fahrenheit indoor temperature was beginning to get even to me.

Won't turn it up because I feel really bad about forgetting yesterday to turn off the radiator I put in the guestroom for a couchsurfer last night, before Veronica and i went to a client site for most of the day.

Aside from remembering to check in the morning (before Veronica completely unrelated brought up homeowner's insurance and the house burning down over lunch) --

just danced to myself for the full length of Counting Crows' Mr. Jones

May have thrown my back out :-)

Not letting Zelda on the couch. I feel cruel. Somehow she's decided suddenly she has the right.

Site that never ends (will be discussing phase 2 tomorrow even if phase 1 still isn't done) is killing workload-wise but it's sort of fun.

Need to record a lot of things i haven't written down about this year. It's been great.

Chanukah in West Virginia textual snapshots

Cassidy and Xavier still playing with brand new presents, Veronica poking the fire, Eva wearing the silly hat Veronica gave her and blowing on John until he yells, Sarah drinking a beer and talking to Jake, Dan putting Mom's picture away, Mom opening one more gift, me sitting with the brand new Celtics jacket typing away while I remember what I'm doing with this website.

Chicago, Pilsner neighborhood

Monday evening after leaving Mary's work (SAIC) and an amazing meal at the Chicago Diner (vegan Philadelphia cheesesteak, polenta lasagna, and chocolate mousse and chocolate chip carrot cheesecake – we shared all our dishes) Mary showed me the immigrant justice mural a healthy walk from her apartment in the now heavily Mexican Pilsen neighborhood. I spotted some old machines with wheels and had Mary look and she said they are small printing presses, not set up yet, in the Yollocalli space. She will follow up!

Rochester visit

Rochester, New York, via Amtrak, with Fox.

Heather and Afam look like they are doing really well, even as they go through the stressful time of the two of them applying to law school and medical school simultaneously!

Heather fed us well-- a beautiful arrangement of hummos and carrots and salsa and chips and more, desert of dates and entirely fake wafers that I could have, and pasta the first night and vegan chili she somehow had waiting in their freezer.

Heather on travel details in Rochester, business matters with Dan, Andrew gets phone back, people reporting for work.

Tuesday: Cambridge on location at clients and Drupal meets

an all Agaric day.

Worked in the morning, client meeting in Central Square with Veronica and Tom (work on site) and then to the Drupal Meetup.

Show Aliases was surprisingly well liked and Dries recommended for core.

Long time talking and eating the surplus chips at the Muddy Waters and ending with three cups of beer. Veronica dropped me off at midnight.

Sunday, visited Grandpa

Helped with a dump run.
Set up Dan's amped-up router.
Worked on Alambre Trio (and a bunch of my stuff, including a proposal to do a session at CMS Expo in Illinois in May that didn't seem to go through, damnit).
Walked the dogs who refused to run with me.
Ate an entire large vegan pizza on his generosity

a day's work

Drupal book looks like it's going to happen. "Your ToC is excellent, and we all agree that this has the potential to be a stunning book"

Spent another several hours on a $300 capped price project to then be told it's been too long, sent in the code. OK, let's keep the eye on the $17K project then that has to be finished before Thanksgiving. Except for all these projects that we're still closing out, and the charity Amazing Things Auction site I'll be shepherding through its closing hours...

And actually today i was wildly unproductive. Cannot happen again.

Still losing a ton of hair

Bad diet? Unhealthy lifestyle generally? Low-level stress? The fact that I like to pull out any kind of shedding fur? All apply. I don't think i can blame the vegan thing but my hair seems to be thinning way faster than my genes would dictate. Hope I look good bald.

@TODO nutritional audit and start eating right.

@DONE:

(interestingly, i don't have a single white spot on my fingernails, another alleged sign of malnutrition)

Monday Worked from Home

Including outside. Warm!

Sunday D7CX Code Sprint

Meeting in Cambridge, visit and dinner with Dan and Laura in Roslindale, drive Darryl to Natick to stay over

Thursday after meeting an Agaric client in Cambridge.

Excellent evening.

Walked the dogs in the common-type area of Roslindale and to the store where Laura works.

Ate at a Japanese place with some Korean dishes -- I had the one i keep forgetting but Dan remembers, ends in bop or something,

At the station

Home alone

Heat just turned on. Which is interesting because the thermostat is as low as it will go. Apparently 55 degrees is as cold as the house will allow itself to get as long as the furnace has fuel and is functioning.

Been using the same small frying pan ... since about a week before mom left, actually. Most recent use: oatmeal, with coconut milk, brown sugar, and molasses.

Also learned in Europe

Ireland, in fact.

Jeremiah was a Bullfrog on the tape deck and a near full moon

Full (or near) full moon and Jeremiah was a bullfrog (Joy to the World) on the tape deck. Thinking of Dad.

(Died on a full moon - a blue moon, which he had a thing for - and sang Jeremiah with nearly as little shame as i do when i sing, but a much better voice).

Thinking of the father I knew.

not the father who was not to others

I do love him.

rationalized not doing dishes and using the rice cooker instead

on the theory that i should test the rice cooker on rice pilaf alone rather than for the first time on a group

Rice pilaf came out fine especially considering I forgot to put in oil.
