Buena

Listening to the music i took from Kasey. I didn't realize Morphine's a Boston band.

Confused For Elise for Pachabel's Canyon today

May i forever live in shame.

My October Mix Tape will be about Home!

Simon & Garfunkle, Homeward Bound
Kingston Trio, Green Green
Roger Miller, Home where the whippoorwills call
Dirty Water, The Standells
In Them Old Cotton Fields Back Home
Don't it Make You Want to Go Home, Harry Belafonte

(For Mixes Across America Facebook group started by a friend of Manda's.)

A couple folk songs I like: Green Green and Greenback Dollar

I first heard Green Green and Greenback Dollar was the Kingston Trio's covers.

The original authors and performers are:

The New Christy Minstrel's for Green Green

And Hoyt Axton for Greenback Dollar.

Announcement: MP3 rating inflation

After rather many years with having never rated a song with 5 stars, I've decided I have needlessly condensed my scale and will begin rating with fours more freely, and most of the present 4s will become 5s. If a song ever reaches whatever my previous ridiculous standards must have been for a 5, I'll blog about it or something. Fair?

Billy Bragg, missing him by a day and a city, twice

i was in the middle of Billy Bragg's "Which Side Are You On" when I stopped it to not be rude entering Encuentro 5 for the Stop the Wars meeting.

And they will be promoting their Saturday, October 25, Halloween party against war at, among other places, the performances by Billy Bragg in Somerville.

But I actually already knew that... from the amazing built-in plugin for Songbird that lets me know when any musicians in my MP3 collection are playing nearby.

Songs Dad Sung

Jerimiah Was a Bull Frog (Joy to the World)

I never understood a single word he said, but I helped him drink his wine
And he always had some mighty fine wine

Some Nat King Cole Trio numbers:

Yes sir, that's my baby

And of course, It must be jelly 'cause jam don't shake like that

Thoughts on Radiohead's pay-what-you-like digital album sale

40% of site visitors (or downloaders I think) paid an average of $6.

The main thing is that they went around the middleman, not just for music sales (CD or digital distributors) but in gathering a database of their fans that they can use in booking concerts, further promotion and sales, etc.

It will definitely work for Radiohead, and other high-profile bands.

And this is the best bet for artists and bands who won't get into the music industry any other way.

Will it work for all the groups in between?

I want it to, but I'm not sure we're there yet.
